My name is Terra Claiborne. I have been teaching primary grades since 2001, including kindergarten, first, and second grade. I have taught for Bainbridge Island School District since 2008 and started at Blakely Elementary in 2010.

I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest. My family and I enjoy the outdoors and the beautiful scenery Washington provides. On weekends, you will find us camping, hiking, or snowshoeing, depending on the weather.

My love of teaching started early on when I volunteered at an orphanage during a summer in college. I attended Central Washington University, where I obtained my BA in Video Communications with a Mass Communications minor, but quickly went back to school to obtain my K-8 Teaching Certificate so I could pursue my career in teaching. I also have my Professional Teaching Certificate along with obtaining my Master's of Education with an emphasis in Curriculum and Technology.

I have the best job! Every day I get to work doing something I enjoy, but also get to see children smile as they learn. I look forward to meeting and working with each of you this year!
