Courage

From the Counselor

Dear Blakely Community,

It’s hard to believe we are one week away from Spring Break! As we launch into spring this first week of April, we will slowly transition into our school-wide April character trait of COURAGE

Courage isn’t just about big, heroic moments; it is often seen in moments of bravery when we try something new, ask for help, stand up for what’s right, and continue to learn and grow even when something feels challenging. It is also reminding ourselves to have compassion for ourselves and others on our own journeys toward bravery. Throughout the month, we will encourage students to notice and celebrate everyday acts of bravery in themselves and others!

Spring Break: As we head into Spring Break, it can be helpful to keep a few simple routines in place to support a smooth and positive transition. Maintaining consistent sleep schedules when possible, providing moments of unstructured play, and small moments of connection (like family walks, shared meals, or check-ins) can help children feel grounded in routine. Transitions back to school tend to go more smoothly when they know what to expect, so a gentle reminder about returning routines a day or two before school resumes can make a big difference.
Plant Kindness
Early Preview: Our Annual Kindness Week will take place the week of April 20–24th! This year’s theme will be “Plant Kindness, Grow Love,” as Earth Day falls in the same week! Kindness Week is always a special time in our school where we come together to intentionally discuss and practice kindness, empathy, and connection. Students will have opportunities to participate in fun, meaningful activities that highlight how even small acts of kindness can have a big impact on others.

Thank you, as always, for your partnership in supporting your child’s growth—both academically and socially-emotionally. We are grateful to be part of a community that values courage, kindness, and the well-being of every child!
With Care,
