From the Principal

Dear Bulldog Families,

We hope this newsletter finds you well as we move through the final stretch of the school year! One quick shout out- thank you to our music teacher, Mr.Figgins, as well as our 3rd and 4th grade teachers and our 3rd/4th grade classes for their incredible musical performances last week. It was terrific hearing and seeing Blakely rocking out on Wednesday!
Below are a few important updates and reminders for the week ahead, thank you for reading.

Classroom Placement Process for 2026-2027
Our classroom placement process for next school year will be starting soon, and we want to ensure that families have an opportunity to share information that may be helpful as we thoughtfully create balanced classes for all students. In the next week or so, we will be sharing a Google survey for families who would like to provide input regarding their student(s). This may include information about learning styles, social-emotional needs, or other considerations you would like to share.

Please note: While we value and carefully review all family input, the information shared is not a guarantee, as there are many factors we must weigh to create equitable and balanced classrooms for every student. We do not honor specific teacher requests nor can we guarantee requests regarding peers to be placed with or away from, but we do take your insights into account as part of our comprehensive placement process. Class placements are determined through a collaborative process with myself making the final decision as principal. Thank you in advance for your partnership and understanding as we work to set up all students for success next year.

Staff Appreciation Week is Next Week!
Staff Appreciation Week is coming up, and the Blakely PTO is taking the lead in celebrating our incredible staff. We continue to be grateful for their support and generosity in making our teachers and staff feel valued. If you or your child(ren) would like to add an additional touch, small gestures such as cards, notes, or flowers always bring smiles to the faces of our team. I continue to be inspired and amazed by how every single staff member at Blakely works tirelessly to support our students daily, and any expression of gratitude—big or small—makes an impression.
Attendance Update: Let's Finish Strong!
We have some positive momentum going on our tardy goal...We are halfway there! We've achieved 5 out of 10 days with fewer than 30 students tardy, and if we reach our goal of 10 days, we'll celebrate with an all-school event. We're currently spelling a mystery phrase to keep the tracking of this goal visible to students...the phrase is 10 letters long, so far we have: "Here O_ _ _ _ _"...I have loved hearing students try to infer and guess the phrase so far!

At the same time, we want to share that April has been our lowest attendance month since December, with just over 91.5% of students attending daily. We know that as the year winds down, it can be tempting to ease up on routines, especially as the days grow longer and warmer, but maintaining consistent attendance and daily structure is incredibly important for student learning and development. Regular attendance helps students stay engaged, build on their learning, and finish the year strong. Thank you for your continued partnership in prioritizing your child's presence at school each day.

If you have any questions or need support, please don't hesitate to reach out. Let's make these final weeks of the school year memorable and successful for all of our students!

Art
Blakely PTO Art Sale — Now Through April 27!
Blakely is proud to continue its cherished tradition of celebrating student creativity with our annual art sale! Every Blakely student — including yours — has created a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in collaboration with our talented Art Teacher, Katie Bonanno.

Each original artwork has been beautifully framed by the Blakely PTO and is available for purchase for $50. Proceeds directly support our school, making this a meaningful way to commemorate your child’s creativity while giving back to the community.

Please note: As each piece is a unique original, only one framed artwork is available per student.

If the cost presents a challenge for your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Kyanne Hawkins. We want every family to be able to enjoy their student’s artwork.

Purchased art will be sent home with students on May 22

Purchase your student's artwork here: https://go.rallyup.com/blakelyartsale25-26/Campaign/Details

It’s ABC time! Register for the 2026-27 School Year

If you know your student will not attend BISD in the fall, please let us know by contacting the school office, or by sending an email to: studentrecords@bisd303.org with your educational plan so that we may adjust our records accordingly.

Our Annual Back to school Check-in process (ABC) is now open and is available by logging in to your Family Access account. Look in the left menu and choose: ABC 26-27 to move through the steps to complete this process ASAP.
It should take about 15 minutes (or less!) to complete the process for each child in your household.

This data collection allows BISD to gather information regarding your students’ plans for the upcoming year. Having an accurate understanding of the number of expected students helps us determine staffing needs, class size and building capacity to better serve our students. In addition to this valuable information, it allows BISD to fulfill its annual notification requirements for public schools in Washington state.

The ABC 26-27 process must be completed for ALL students in the district whether they are brand new to the district or returning.

*NOTE: For students with more than one family, ONLY the Primary Family will have access to complete the ABC’s. Guardians of Non-Primary Families will have “read-only” access. If this is a hardship for your family, please contact the school office for guidance, or send an email to studentrecords@bisd303.org. All families have the ability to make changes to their specific demographic information at any time via Family Access>Student Info>Change Requests link (in the top right corner).

TIPS:
  • Use a desktop or laptop computer (if trying to use a mobile device, open up a browser and login to Family Access directly. Or, depending on your device you may be able to choose the “Desktop” version of the mobile app for this purpose).
  • Use the “View Full Screen” buttons when available.
  • Each step has a “Complete Step and Move to….” button. You must click that on each step to mark it as complete.
  • Optional steps: PTSO and Bainbridge Schools Foundation steps are there as informational only. Donations are appreciated, but NOT required!
  • IF you make a change request that needs to be approved by the district you can still Complete the Step and move on to the next step.
  • If you think you have completed the process, but it is not showing as complete, look in the right column menu and look for the step(s) that do not have a check mark next to them. Click the link and you’ll either need to sign and date and/or merely click the “complete step” button….then Submit.
  • The LAST step – takes 2 clicks. “Complete ABC 26-27” followed by “Submit ABC 26-27”. As soon as you “Submit” you will get a notice and email that the process has been completed.
