Dear Blakely Community,
With our 2026-2027 class placement process quickly approaching, we wanted to send a reminder that our Parent/Guardian Input Form should be submitted either in writing, verbally, or using the electronic Google Class Placement Input Form by this Friday, May 22nd.
- If you prefer to share information verbally, please contact the principal and school counselor: Sam Cameron (scameron@bisd303.org) & Amanda Keller (akeller@bisd303.org)
- If you’d like to share information in paper form, please come in and see our office manager, Kyanne Hawkins.
In addition, below is another look at our placement process.
Our Placement Process
Student placement is one of the most important processes at Blakely, and we dedicate a great deal of time and care to ensuring each child is placed in an environment where they can thrive. Our goal is to create balanced, supportive learning communities for all students.
To ensure a fair and consistent process, the following steps are used:
- All grade-level teachers gather detailed information about each student with the placement team (below).
- The Blakely Placement Team (Principal, Counselor, Grade Level teachers, Office Manager, Special Education Case Managers, Specialist teachers, and paraprofessionals) carefully reviews this information.
- Using this input, the team collaboratively determines class placements, with the principal making the final decision.
Most students are well prepared to adjust successfully to a variety of classroom environments, and we are committed to supporting each student during this transition.
Family Input
We value the important perspective that families bring and invite parents/guardians to share information that may help us create the most supportive placement for their child. This may include:
- Learning needs
- Social or emotional considerations
- Classroom environment preferences
- Health or wellness factors
REMINDER: While we carefully consider all input, we are not able to accommodate requests for specific teachers or placement with particular friends.
Thank you for partnering with us in this thoughtful process each year!
With Care,
Amanda Keller, MS, MEd
