Hello Bulldog Families,
As I sit down to write my final newsletter message, I find myself reflecting on the past year with a sense of pride and satisfaction when I think of all the hard work our students, staff and families engaged in throughout the year.
Every day I saw students supporting each other, making connections, learning from mistakes and pushing themselves into new endeavors. I saw every single member of our Blakely staff going above and beyond their duties to make sure students felt seen, valued and supported. The creativity, intentionality and thoughtfulness that our staff bring daily is inspiring. Finally, the support I saw throughout the year from families was remarkable. From school events to the daily routine to advocating for children, the support and genuine partnership with all of you is truly special. I want to thank each of you for a tremendous 2025-2026 school year.
Just this morning, we had an all school recess where yearbooks were handed out to students so they could sign and enjoy them with others. I was so proud of what I saw: students were patient with each other, included each other, connected over what was written, used kind words, praised each other's signatures, made sure to say thank you, and so much more. We've had an amazing year and this 20 minutes was a perfect summary of it.
I wish you all a terrific summer filled with relaxation, connection and smiles.
See you in August!

We have made a few important updates to our 2026-2027 academic calendar this year to better support our educators and families. Please take a moment to review the changes so you can plan ahead!
What’s New:
-
Full-Day PD Releases: We have added full days dedicated to comprehensive staff training. Students will not have school on these days.
-
Half-Day PD Releases: We have incorporated early dismissal days to allow for regular teacher collaboration and curriculum planning. On these half-day releases our school hours will be 7:50am-10:50am.
- Adjusted Conference Schedules
If you have any questions about these specific dates, please reach out to the main office at (206) 842-4752

MEDICATION PICK UP: Medications can be picked up at the end of the school day on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026, or earlier if needed.
Health Care Plans / 504's: Please remember, if you were unable to sign and return your child’s 504/Health Care Plan to me prior to June 10th, 2026, then you will need to ensure it is filled out and signed by your pediatrician over the summer. I will need to have these turned into me by August 26th, 2026, in order to process them and notify all teachers and staff, from food service to bus drivers, of your child’s health condition. Medications can either be brought at that time or on the first day of school.
Per Washington State law, if your child has a health condition that requires emergency medication, your child CAN NOT start school without a current 504/ Health Care Plan and medication in place by the first day of school. Please contact me if you have questions.

Summer vacation is just around the corner! As we get ready to celebrate a fantastic year, our front office is working hard to tie up all the final loose ends. If your student will miss school during these last couple of days, please make sure to request their absence be excused before the final bell rings! Our absolute cutoff for accepting any recent absence notes is dismissal time on the last day of school. Thank you for a wonderful year, and we wish everyone a happy and safe summer!
