From the Principal

Hello Bulldog Families,

I can't believe next week we will be on the eve of the first day of school! It has been awesome watching Blakely come back to life with our staff returning and students beginning to gather on the playground. We are spending this week diving into some fantastic learning as a staff and getting ready to welcome your child(ren) through our doors on September 1st. As usual, the drive, passion and intentionality that I witness every day from our staff is inspiring. It is going to be a terrific year, thank you for your partnership and support in advance!

I’ll keep this week’s message short since you’ve been hearing quite a bit from me lately.

Morning Timeline: Just a reminder, we have supervision daily starting at 7:35am. Our doors open at 7:40am and we begin marking tardies at 7:50. If your child is onsite prior to 7:35, they must be accompanied by an adult.

Meet & Greet
We’re excited to welcome families for Meet & Greet on Friday, August 28, from 9:00–10:00 a.m. This event is an important part of our Blakely community—it helps ease first-day jitters, gives students a chance to practice finding their classrooms, and offers staff their first opportunity to begin building connections with students and families.
I want to remind folks that we will be using the same format as last year:
  • 9:00–9:30 – Students may visit their new classrooms and get comfortable in their new space. We are asking that students only visit their new classroom during this time to allow everyone time to focus on this year rather than visit prior years classrooms, teachers, etc.
  • 9:30 – The building will close, and we’ll all move outside to the playground.
  • 9:30–10:00 – Join us on the playground for students to get some excitement out while families and staff connect and build relationships. This is also a time where students and families can connect with their teachers from prior years and rekindle those memories!
After School Childcare at Blakely: I'm thrilled to announce that this year, starting September 1st, the Boys and Girls club will be hosting after school programming from 2:20-6:30, with three day and five day options. To register, you can head to the King County Boys and Girls Club page (link here) and click "register". Then filter by "after school" and scroll down the alphabetical list to find "Blakely".

**Just a reminder- our PTO has purchased school supplies for ALL students this year! No need to bring anything for Meet and Greet. Thank you PTO!

We can’t wait to see you soon and start the year off together with joy, connection, and community! As always, if I can be of any support or you'd like to chat, please let me know.

Sam Cameron

Play dates and other after school activities will be up to families to provide transportation

Monday - Friday we dismiss at 2:20pm

If you need to change your student's transportation plan you need to email, call, or send in a note prior to 2:00pm .

Our preference is an email to blabus@bisd303.org We will respond to your email but are unable to confirm messages or notes

Thank you so much for filling out this form and prior to the first day of school and talking to your student about their normal end of the day plan. It helps dismissal run smoothly.
