Hi Blakely Families,
We have had an incredible beginning to the school year! As I walk through our hallways and classrooms, I see so many smiling faces, intentional connections, students trying new things and teachers giving support and inspiration.
I want to share a huge thank you to all of our amazing students for bringing their enthusiasm and energy every day, to our dedicated staff for creating warm, welcoming spaces, and to our families for your ongoing partnership. My son has just started Kindergarten and I know first hand how it can be challenging to establish and maintain at-home routines—from bedtime schedules to morning backpack checks- especially as we try to soak up the last of the summer. However, sticking to those routines makes a world of difference in helping our students start each day ready to engage in learning and thrive. Thank you for taking a few minutes to read the below- have a great week!
Full Week
As we enter our very first full 5-day week of the school year, I want to remind everyone that Mondays are now full days with dismissal at 2:20 PM.
With a full 5-day stretch ahead, it is natural for student stamina to dwindle toward Thursday and Friday. Our learners pack a tremendous amount of focus and effort into their school days. You might notice your child feeling a bit more tired or extra hungry by the end of the week—extra rest and reassuring routines at home will help them navigate this transition smoothly!
Attendance:
Currently, our daily attendance rate is 98%! While we love seeing this, we also know our sample size is small. That said, attendance is one of the first indications that students feel like they belong at school and celebrated for who they are. We keep a close eye on attendance to help us ensure that every student feels believed in, cared for and that they are not alone.
While our daily rate overall is strong, we are noticing morning tardies starting to accumulate. Please remember that students are marked tardy if they arrive after 7:50 AM. Arriving on time allows students to participate in morning routines, settle in alongside their peers, and start their day feeling calm and confident. If your child is exhibiting any resistance to coming to Blakely, please reach out so we can support!
Parent/Guardian Night:
Join us this Thursday (9/17) for our Parent/Guardian Night! This is a wonderful opportunity to step into your child's classroom, hear directly from their teacher about the year ahead, and learn more about how we can partner together for a successful school year. See below for details.
