Hi Bulldogs,
I hope you had a terrific weekend enjoying the sun and crisp fall air. As much as I love the changing seasons, I think my days of wearing shorts while taking my son to the park are very numbered and saying farewell to the summer sun is always hard for me. As we settle into our daily routines, I want to thank you for all the work you do each day to support your students and their educational journey. I know there will be a lot of communication this week about Jog-a-Thon, so I'm keeping my section here very short.
Jog-A Thon:
We're in our final week! Thank you to everyone who has donated thus far and have continued to hype up the event. We are a bit under 50% of our goal so we anticipate (and need) a big week of donations! I've been timing myself running a lap each morning and the students are extremely confident they will be faster than me come Friday. We'll see.
If you didn’t catch it, we have extended the deadline to our “pie in the face” challenge- if we make our goal of $75,000, I will happily take a pie to the face from our Bulldog Mascot- let’s get it going!
As a reminder, all the money raised goes directly to our teachers and students to support Blakely. Thanks again for all your support and ongoing partnership.

Five days left. One big ask. Let’s show up for Blakely.
Our Jog-A-Thon is this Friday, October 16! We’ve raised just under $33,000—43% of our $75,000 goal—with only five days left. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. We still have a significant amount to raise. Power in numbers!
This is our ONE BIG ask of the year to support Blakely students and teachers. Your donations help fund field trips, assemblies, classroom supplies, learning subscriptions, teacher grants, Outdoor Ed, and traditions like Field Day and Maker Faire. The money we raise this week supports learning and experiences all year long.
If you’ve already given, sharing your page again is a meaningful way to help. Every gift brings us closer.
And the pie challenge is still on! If we reach $75,000 by Friday, the Bulldog will pie Mr. Cameron in the face at the Jog-A-Thon.
Let’s make these last five days count—for our kids, our teachers, and our school.
Jog-A-Thon is most fun when our community comes together! Check the schedule below and cheer on your student as their class runs laps Friday morning Oct. 16. Wear Blakely Bulldog colors or spirit wear, and bring noise makers, cow bells, pom poms, family and friends to cheer on your runner! Bring signs or make one at the sign-making station on the field.

Does your student need lunch on our upcoming half days? During conference week, BISD is offering Grab & Go lunches for students. To ensure our kitchen staff prepares the correct amount and to prevent any delays with bus dismissal, we are using a streamlined online sign-up system.
Meal Details:
-
What’s Included: Sandwich, fruit, vegetable, snack, and beverage
-
Cost: Charged directly to your student’s regular lunch account
-
Classroom Delivery: Lunches will be delivered directly to classrooms before dismissal so students can take them home or onto the bus
Please note: To prevent dismissal delays, all half-day lunches must be pre-ordered using the link above rather than purchased after the bell.

By October, the excitement of the new school year may be wearing off and busy schedules are in full swing. This is a great time to check in on the routines that help children get to school every day, on time, and ready to learn.
A successful morning starts the night before! Children ages 6–12 need 9–12 hours of sleep each night to support attention, learning, behavior, and overall well-being. If your child is starting to struggle with attendance, talk with your child’s teacher or school counselor at conferences later this month, we are here to help!
Keep October mornings running smoothly by:
- Maintaining consistent bedtime and wake-up times.
- Talking positively about school and making attendance a family priority.
- Packing backpacks and choosing clothes the night before.
- Starting the day with a nutritious breakfast.
- Building in a few extra minutes to avoid a rushed morning.
Remember, every day at school is an opportunity to learn, connect with friends and teachers, and build confidence.
