From the Counselor

Blakely Families and Community,

As we move into November, our school community will be focusing on the important character trait of Gratitude.

Gratitude is more than saying "thank you" when someone hands us a gift. Gratitude is a choice we make every day to notice and appreciate the people, experiences, and things in our lives—both big and small. Choosing gratitude helps build resilience, strengthens our connections with others, and brings joy into our daily routines.

Practicing gratitude at home can continue to support students in developing a positive mindset. HERE is our Character Strong school-wide family newsletter about this character trait, as well as a couple of other simple ways to bring this month's trait into your home:

  • Dinner Table "Peaks & Thankfuls": During mealtime, go around the table and share one good thing that happened during the day (a peak) and one person or thing you were grateful for (a thankful).
  • Gratitude Notes: Encourage your child to draw a picture or write a short note of thanks to someone who helped them during the week—such as a teacher, neighbor, sibling, or friend.
Update: 4th Grade Kindness Ambassadors in Action!

We are excited to share that our 4th Grade Kindness Ambassadors officially begin their work this month! 4th graders will hear about the new format this week and will be able to apply if they are interested in participating.

Our Ambassadors will take on various campus jobs throughout the month that show gratitude to our school, fellow students, and staff. In addition to serving our school community, they will plan and prepare a winter drive to take place in December. Keep an eye out for more details about the drive in an upcoming newsletter!

Thank you for partnering with us as we teach our students the power of choosing gratitude every day.
With gratitude,

Amanda Keller, MS, MEd, NCC

Thank you

Attendance Notes

November is here, and we’re encouraging all our young learners to Show Up and Show Out! Every day at school is a chance to learn something new, make friends, and build confidence.
  • Help your child Show Up and Show Out this November!
  • Keep bedtime and morning routines consistent.
  • Pack backpacks and choose clothes the night before.
  • Make arriving at school on time a family goal.
Celebrate your student’s efforts to show up, learn, and grow!  Being at school every day and arriving on time helps children feel connected, confident, and ready to learn.

Let’s make it a No-Miss November! Show Up, Show Out, and Shine Bright!

Staying Connected

As you may have noticed, we recently updated our school websites to replace direct staff email addresses with secure contact forms. This change was an important step to boost our cybersecurity and protect our school networks from phishing attacks.

Because this is a new process this year, we want to make sure you always know the best way to get in touch with us!

  • To reach a teacher directly: Please use the secure contact forms located on our school’s staff directory page.
  • If you aren't sure who to contact: You can always use the main email address listed at the very bottom of our school’s homepage. This email goes directly to our main office managers, who will make sure your message is quickly forwarded to the exact right person.
Thank you for your patience as we transition to this more secure system, and for your continued partnership!
