Good Morning Blakely,
It is great to be back at Blakely with students, staff and community. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Kathleen Pool for exceeding all expectations as the Blakely Principal while I was on leave. Her presence, support and creative perspective truly improved everything that is so great about our school and community! Thank you Kathleen.
I plan to take this week to watch, listen and observe some of the changes put in place while I was gone. I can’t wait to spend time in classrooms, interacting with students and staff. My Kindergarten friends and new students don’t know me so I will be intentional around building those relationships as well.
I look forward to seeing all of you before and after school. Feel free to stop by my office to say hi or introduce yourself if you are new to Blakely!
Much appreciation,
Reese Ande

When to Keep a Sick Student Home - A Guideline for Parents/Guardians
According to best practice guidelines, please DO NOT send your child to school if he/she has:
-
A fever (an oral temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher). A fever is a common symptom when it occurs with sore throat, an earache, nausea, listlessness, or a rash. PLEASE keep your child home during the course of a fever - and for an additional 24 hours after the fever has passed without the use of fever reducing medication
-
Vomiting during the night or more than twice in the past 24 hours
-
Diarrhea during the night or more than twice in the past 24 hours
-
Strep Throat (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)
-
A cold, with a very runny nose or bad cough, especially if it has kept the child awake at night
-
Bacterial Conjunctivitis, or Pink Eye (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)
-
Ear Infection (must have been taking an antibiotic for at least 24 hours before returning to school)
-
A bothersome body rash, especially with fever and/or itching that spreads quickly and has open, weeping wounds
Thank you for your cooperation in helping our school community to stay healthy. Don’t hesitate to call with any questions or concerns.

Parent volunteers for Blakely have been noticeably low this year. PTO and its activities are impossible without your participation, your consideration is tremendously appreciated:
-
Popcorn Friday Volunteers Needed: Have your kids mentioned Popcorn Fridays? This fun activity is not possible without PTO volunteers. This light volunteer job (about 1 hour) requires popping the popcorn, putting the popcorn in bags, and handing it out to students at recess. It's a great way to be involved, see tons of kids (including your own), and be popular on the playground! Sign up to volunteer here.
-
BINGO Coordinator Needed: Bingo Night—a beloved tradition for our school community—is at risk of not happening this year. We need YOU to take the helm of Bingo Night Coordinator to make this event possible! Without a coordinator, Blakely cannot host Bingo Night this year. Let’s work together to make sure our school community doesn’t miss out on this favorite fun-filled evening!
- The Coordinator role requires NO prior experience and mainly deals with logistics and organization. The Coordinator is responsible for overseeing event details, managing volunteers, ordering supplies and food, securing prizes, and promoting the event to ensure it’s a fun and successful evening for everyone. If you’re shy about public speaking, don’t worry—our fabulous emcee Chris Lum, who did an amazing job at Jog-A-Thon, will handle the mic and keep the crowd entertained!
-
If you have any interest or questions in this role (or any other volunteer opportunities), please feel free to reach out to Kelsie or Becky!
