From the Principal
Good Morning Blakely,

Two weeks until Winter break, so I hope everyone has plans to rejuvenate and find time to spend with family and friends. It’s hard to believe that 2025 is weeks away, but ready or not.

Please expect to see increased communication around the school district's budget as it relates to this year and future years. Ms. Thompson, superintendent, has started to communicate a plan to engage the community and staff in a transparent process to understand and address the budget moving forward. Ms. Thompson has made a commitment to keep potential changes as far from students as possible, but it will be important for all of you to share your thoughts and opinions when the opportunities arise.

Regardless, I am confident in our district leadership and our commitment to continue to support students and provide them an exceptional learning experience.

Have a wonderful break,
Reese

Blakely Holiday Food Drive: Thank you Blakely for your support in our Fall Canned Soup Food Drive. We were able to deliver close to 200 cans of soup prior to Thanksgiving Break.

Safety
Safety First!
Safety first!
Bainbridge Island winter mornings and evenings are dark (and often rainy), making it difficult for drivers to see students walking or riding bikes. Before your student leaves for the day, please be sure they have the proper equipement to make them as visible as possible. For additional information, please review the tips on the Washington State Department of Transportation website

PTO
PTO News and Events
Our Blakely teachers were so grateful for the pumpkin pies provided by our PTO - many thanks to super volunteer Elli Koskella for continuing the tradition of handing out pies to all our wonderful Blakely teachers!

Upcoming After School Programs - There are some great after school programs coming in the New Year:
  • Mondays, 1/13-3/3 (not 1/20, 2/17– 6 sessions)— $105 12:50-2:20
  • Children will play different sports each week. Sports include: soccer, basketball, tennis, baseball, bowling, court hockey, football, and dodgeball. All equipment is provided and made of soft materials. We’ll meet immediately after school in the gym. Club is coached by Henry Guterson, an Island youth coach since 2004. The goal is for children to get better at sports and have a fun, positive experience. Please send a small snack for your children to eat before sessions begin and make sure they wear athletic shoes. Keep an eye out for more details and information about after school Yoga Club with Ms. Keller and Chess Club with Coach Mark Cohen.

SAVE THE DATE - Blakely BINGO Night is Friday, January 31 @ Blakely Elementary: Thanks to a wonderful parent volunteer who has taken the role of coordinator, BINGO NIGHT is happening!
